About MCRO

The Muslim Communities Research Observatory is an independent hub for research on Muslim communities. We gather credible research from around the world, catalogue it so it is easy to search, and make it usable for the people who act on it: advocates, community leaders, journalists, decision-makers and everyday citizens.

Vision

A world where the varied experiences and challenges of Muslim communities are more accurately captured, and where current and emerging leaders are better equipped for shaping the discourse and advancing evidence-based solutions.

Mission

To serve as an independent research observatory that collects and synthesizes rigorous research, produces accessible materials, and supports leaders and organizations in turning evidence into civic capacity and long-term impact.

The problem statement

Research without a library

Academic studies sit behind journal paywalls. A community survey lives on a site no one knows about. Government consultations close, and the submissions disappear, if they were ever even made.

So the same questions keep getting asked, and the data that would answer them is hard to find.

Policy on Muslim communities is being written all the time, but there is no simple way to connect the evidence to the solutions.

How we work

We bring credible research on Muslim communities from around the world into one place.

Where there is a real gap, we work with partners to commission new studies.

We turn research and recommendations into easy-to-use tools for advocates and journalists.

We follow what happens next, holding decision-makers accountable.

Give the research a home.

Your support keeps it in one place anyone can search, and helps it reach the people who act on it.
